Back home at last

2004-08-21 19:17:34
The first thing i noticed when i stepped into our house is how quiet it was. For the last month i have been living in a 10 bedroom building with more then 40+ (i know this becuase it very hard to buy icecream for these people becuase of their population)living in it.

All of them my family. You might be thinking "40+ in a 10 bedroom building, thats really cramped". Well it was, a bit. But that was where most of the fun was.

Think of it this way. Most of these people are my cousins. Most of them are girls (about 15-20). Imagine suddenly i feel like a cup of tea. I ask any one of those people and they'll get it for me right away, make it them selves if required. Same goes for other types of food.

This was a fantastic feeling. When i wake up in the morning, and brush my teeth etc. I don't have to wash my own cloths. I don't even have to put it into a washing machine (if they had one). Its all done for me. And when you ask them to do something, most of them don't snap at you and say "do it your self!". It was amazing.

The place we lived in was a 2 floor building, located in Sylhet. The place was alright. When i say alright i mean it had fridge, big TV, and most of all English toilets!!

English toilets are very very scarce in Bangladesh. Everyone in Sylhet has Electricity (so they should since its a city), but not everyone has English toilets!! They are like luxury item.
Actually no one in Bangladesh uses English toilets. Its only for people who visit Bangladesh from the west :)

When i wrote my last post, i thought i wasn't gonna enjoy going to Bangladesh. One of the reason for this was becuase there was so many people in my family. Too many. And thought they would just get on my nerves after a day or two. Some of them did, but most of these people are alright. They look after you really well.

Since i've been in London, i felt miserable. I actually prefer Bangladesh. Its fascinating how easily you can get used to everything over there. When i arrived here i had one thing after another to worry about. First of all i had to worry about paying my rent for next year. The bastards want me to pay the whole years bill in two halfs. That means paying £1.5K in one go.
When i was in Bangladesh, i had no worries. Everything was catered for. And the money that i did have seemed like a lot. Its amazing :)

However, i did not like that fact that the goverment is corrupt, the roads a mess, the whole system is a mess.
I really liked having is HUUGE family. I liked having to live with so many cousins under one roof.

Anyway, i'll rant about what i did a bit more later on :)
